High-Lo

First hummingbird of the season!
The highs and los of my last few days have been watching the birds.
The first ruby-throated hummingbirds arrived on Saturday!
I know my picture is blurry but you can see the little sprite at the feeder.
grey, rainy days are great for painting
We've also attracted a lot of rose breasted grosbeaks to our feeders,
which has been really exciting to see and they inspired this watercolor painting.
rose breasted grosbeak
Sadly, one of the grosbeaks got his head stuck in my bird feeder,
It happened so quickly and by the time I got to him it was too late.
Nothing like this has ever happened before. It was so tragic and just broke my heart.
Needless to say I'm glad this day is almost over and
I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

Collecting Nature

collecting nature III
I'm a gatherer, what can I say?
Nests, milkweed pods, feathers, black walnut shells, bark.
collecting nature II
I haven't made a nest painting in a long while and I was inspired
by these found bits of nature that  I have collected.
collecting nature IV
I have to pick things up and look at them, don't you?

I decided to try something a little different. It's a subtle change and I hope you like it.

Outside In

frilliaria
I love this time of year! Spring just feels great.
I couldn't resist painting fritillaria. The checkered petals were calling my name.
You know me and patterns!
hellebores
My lenten roses, hellebores, are blooming in my cottage garden.
tommies
Tommies are popping up all over the lawn which makes me smile,
especially since I was on my knees for a very long time last fall planting them.
Twig type
I'm working on my twig typography in between other projects.
bunny and brushes
Bringing the outside in for some new paintings.
I'll have a shop update soon.
